The power of the blog….

Feb 13, 2009 Author Phil Jones

To blog or not to blog? I see the question raised regularly, particularly amongst business leaders on discussion forums. There are pros and cons. It depends if you’ve got to say, who you’re target audience is and your reason for starting in the first place.
The best blogs are short, highly topical and relevant to their audience. If you want to connect more with your customers, then consider it, but don’t start and stop. Once you get going, keep going, that’s an important lesson to learn.
Blogs can stir debate, get you feedback and put you in the public eye. They are a great way of letting interested people keep track of you. However, if your blog is mundane, too long or too “you” focused (unless you are of course a celebrity), you may be wasting your time. If you get “bloggers block”, look around the web, you’ll find something interesting to comment on.
Having been hard it myself for around three and a half months now, I’ve benefitted from blogging. I have a solid reader base, people pass comment when they meet me and it’s a great outlet to share your views with the world. So, my vote is, do it and sustain it.
